Just recently got your first “real” job? Dare we say… career? Do you suddenly see flashes of the next forty years of your life? If so, your head is probably swirling with numerous questions about this new stage in your life much like mine was a few years ago. Chances are one of the most significant changes that will occur during this new, exciting (and also boring…) stage of your life is financial responsibility.

This post is an introductory piece intended for people just starting to venture into investing.
A few months ago now, I had accumulated enough money in my savings account to start thinking about investing (somewhere else besides an online savings account). I already had a 401K and a Roth IRA, but to be honest, I only really knew enough to know to spread out my contributions between a few asset classes and let it do its thing. I knew little about how the actual fees work. Both my 401K and my Roth were fairly spoon-fed to me by my employer and a relative who works for American Funds, respectively. But now it was time for me to do my own research and really try to figure out what this investment thing was really about….

Okay, if for some reason you are reading this, then I am very impressed because I can’t imagine how you found this page! Still learning how this how blog thing works. Check back when I get back from vacation in September for some real posts about what I do with my pocket change!
